To stimulate new and diverse lines of discourse about the Middle East and Africa, ASMEA’s Research Grants Program supported research on topics that deserved greater attention. Grants of up to $2500 were awarded.

Conference Travel Grants

The ASMEA Travel Grant Program is for interested Ph.D. students, post-Docs, and junior faculty studying any facet of the Middle East and Africa region. Funds provided through this program may be used to cover expenses associated with attending the ASMEA Annual Conference.

Bernard Lewis Memorial Prize

The Bernard Lewis Memorial Prize aims to sustain the memory of Professor Lewis and ensure his legacy as an example for other scholars to follow. It recognizes a member of ASMEA who has demonstrated superior scholarship and dedication to objective truth in the field of Middle East studies.

Moroccan Studies Research Grants

In 2015 and 2016, ASMEA and the Moroccan-American Cultural Center (MACC) offered research grants for scholars and students studying the Kingdom of Morocco.
